Megan Olesek is a trial lawyer who concentrates her practice in patent litigation.  Ms. Olesek has substantial experience in a range of technology-focused matters, including patent, trademark and copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and complex technology business disputes.  Her practice has included jury and bench trials, proceedings before the International Trade Commission, pre-litigation counseling and appeals. Ms. Olesek has unique insight into the challenges her clients face in managing patent disputes based on her experience as Manager of Intellectual Property Disputes in the in-house legal department of a large technology company. Ms. Olesek pursues a strategy in each dispute that is consistent with her client’s unique priorities, objectives and values.

Ms. Olesek has litigated actions involving a wide range of technologies, including wireless communications, data storage, testing equipment, semiconductor fabrication processes, server systems, voice response technology, telecommunications service management, disk drives, processors, performance testing software, online banking security and many others. Ms. Olesek was named among "The Best Lawyers in the Bay Area" in patent litigation by Bay Area Lawyer Magazine in 2005 and 2006.

  • Represented computer, mobile device and media player company as respondent in Section 337 investigation before the International Trade Commission; resulted in order terminating investigation based on lack of standing  

  • Represented hard disk drive test equipment maker as both plaintiff and defendant in multiple district court litigation matters against market competitor; obtained favorable settlement  

  • Represented leading gaming company in district court patent litigation against well-funded patent assertion entity; obtained favorable settlement following successful motion practice
